The B M Vyas saga at Amul , it looks, is finally over with the appointment and regularization of Mr R S Sodhi as the Managing Director at GCMMF. Mr Sodhi is an old hand at Amul and stood by the Chairman Parthi Bhatol through thick and thin. He was officiating as the MD for last seven months.
Vyas’s dramatic exit has put GCMMF in a fix all of a sudden. Even though Parthi bhai played bravado all along and said that everything is under control, it was his confidence on the competence of this man (Sodhi) that he could pull through with ease.
Vyas’s resignation was a ploy to trap Parthi Bhai but he got trapped himself in the ploy.
It is too well known that in a democratic set up, the Chairman and MD has to be in tune for the growth of the Organization. Organizations like Amul are corporate cooperatives which have to achieve excellence while practicing democratic ideals.
Nation suffers when the President and Prime Minister are at loggerheads. Same is true of organizations.
An appointment committee was set up to find the Managing Director for GCMMF amidst lots of fire work by Vipul Chy and his team seven months back. The officiating MD’s regularization to the post looked tricky in the beginning.
But gradually Parthi Bhatol consolidated his position and his writ began to carry weight. The appointment of Mr R S Sodhi is testimony of his growing clout at GCMMF.
GCMMF can look forward to eventful year as after a long time the Chairman and the Managing Director could work in harmony and tandem. It is a victory of cooperative ideals!
