AGM: Big Amul on cloud nine

Big Amul is on cloud nine. It had its AGM on 31st of May where it announced that it has raked in an impressive turnover of nearly  Rs 12 thousand crore last year, out of which it has given nearly Rs 10 thousand crore to the farmer members of milk cooperative unions.

Talking to Indian Cooperative, GCMMF President Parthi  Bhai Bhatol said that the company’s latest turnover represents a significant improvement over its performance in the last financial year.

Observers of the country’s milk scene say Amul’s range is ever broadening and the milk major is likely to take up so many different and new things in the days ahead.

Milk farmers in Gujarat are a happy lot in that they have over the last few years been benefitting from increases in milk prices.

In contrast, farmers elsewhere in the country had been losers as they got shortchanged receiving less than what could be due to them.

GCMMF has of late has been focussed on expanding its reach. It has been able to erect a remarkable network of distributors for its dairy and other value-added products.

The growth of Amul parlours including the air-conditioned ones across the country is one of the notable achievements of the dairy giant.

Bhatol said that GCMMF may invest a couple of thousands of crore to establish fresh processing units in the years ahead.
