I live in Mumbai and would like to ask you whether it is necessary to attend all the meeting in cooperative housing society. My father got unwell sometime time ago I do not find time to attend meetings. Now they are levying a fine on us for no reason, kindly enlighten me on this issue sir.

Section 26(2) of MCS Act 1960 casts a duty in these words:
(2) It shall be the duty of every member of a society (a) to attend at least one general body meeting within a consecutive period of five years.
