The Cooperative Ombudsman has directed the Citizen Cooperative Society Ltd., Hyderabad to ensure there is no delay in releasing money to the rightful legal heirs of late Shri R. V. Krishna Murthy, in accordance with law and after fulfilling all necessary legal conditions.
The order follows a complaint filed by Smt. A. Rajeswari Devi on April 2, 2025, stating that after the death of her father on September 20, 2019, the family executed a settlement on September 21, 2022, and submitted it to the society on March 5, 2023. However, the society stopped processing the claim after receiving an objection from one of the legal heirs on June 19, 2023.
In response to a notice from the Ombudsman’s office, the society informed on May 9, 2025, that it could not process the claim due to internal disputes among family members.
A hearing was held on July 9, 2025, through video conferencing, attended by Smt. A. Rajeswari Devi along with her son Prithvi, and P. V. Subbaiah Chowdhary, Chief General Manager of the respondent society.
After considering the submissions and records, the Ombudsman observed that although there were disputes among the legal heirs, the society had not acted promptly in processing the claim as per the prescribed procedure.
Disposing of the matter, Cooperative Ombudsman Alok Agarwal directed the society to act strictly in accordance with applicable guidelines and ensure that the funds are released to legitimate claimants without delay.
