World Sustainability Congress honours Co-op doyen Arunachalam

Dr. Jaya Arunachalam Founder of Working Women’s Forum (India)/Indian Cooperative Network for Women was honoured with the Pride of Tamil Nadu for Women Leadership by Dr. R.L. Bhatia, the founder of the World Sustainability Congress.

The award was received in absentia in a function held on 11th December at Chennai.

World Sustainability is a Not-For-Profit Organization based in Mumbai advocating for Sustainable Leadership. World Sustainability attempts to bring Organizations, NGO’s, Public Interests Groups & Governmental Bodies to accelerate & educate on sustainable business practices & solutions for a better tomorrow. This award celebrates the outstanding personalities who have achieved extraordinary success from innovative practices in the Tamil Nadu State.

The Pride of Tamil Nadu Awards (For Women Leadership) is intensely researched and bestowed on those doing extraordinary work and having a convincing track record of achievements. The Jury comprises of senior professionals from across the globe.

Dr. Jaya Arunachalam, represented the Working Women’s Forum (India)/Indian Cooperative Network for Women, an organization initiated in 1978 to develop the total human resource potential of over 6 lakh poor women workers in the informal sector both in 6000 urban and rural areas in the three southern states of India. It was founded on the principle that once you empower a women economically – you have changed her for ever – no one can ever take away her skills or her confidence.
