The Varachha Co-operative Bank Ltd., Surat organised a function at their Hira Baug Branch to mark the achievement of enrolling more than one lakh customers under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana in the presence of Shri P.B.Dhakecha Saheb, Founder Chairman of the Bank and Shri Kanjibhai R. Bhalala, current Chairman.
The UCB claimed that by this it became the first among Urban Co-op Banks to have achieved such a milestone.
So far, the Bank settled insurance claims to the total amount of more than 11 crores to the families of 645 account holders, of which claim settlement of Rs.4.50 crores to 230 customers coming under the PMJJBY and PMSBY.
The UCB also presented mementoes to a few customers. “Shri Shaileshbhai Dhirajlal Monsara became the Customer No.1,00,000 and Miss Kajal Dhirajlal Nariya, as customer No.1,00,001. Bank has decided to give mementoes to these customers by the Member of Parliament, Smt. Darashanaben Jardosh”, the release claims.
Giving details the press release reads-for the general public, accident insurance cover for Rs. 2 Lakhs, premium @ Rs.12/- per annum under PMSBY and Life insurance cover for Rs. 2 Lakhs, premium @ Rs.330/- per annum under PMJJBY are available.
In the meeting, Smt. Darshanaben Jardosh informed that the Varachha Bank is always leading from the front in such activities. He exhorted other UCBs to follow its example so that such benefits reach to the general public.
