UPA waived off loan to ghost farmers: Singh

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said the audit report reveals the Manmohan Singh govt’s farm loan waiver scheme was a total failure, reports ET.

The Union Minister was talking to journalists on his campaign trail in Balia.

Pointing out anomalies in the scheme, the Minister said Rs 10,000 crore had been waived in Delhi whereas there were no farmers in the national capital.

A Comptroller and Auditor General report, tabled in Parliament in 2013, had said 8.5 per cent of farmers, out of 80,2999 accounts audited, were not eligible for debt waiver that they received under the scheme.
