Rajasthan has emerged as a national frontrunner in the implementation of the world’s largest grain storage initiative under the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” campaign, with its low-cost cooperative warehouse model now drawing attention from other states.
A delegation from Uttar Pradesh visited Jaipur on Tuesday to study the Rajasthan model of warehouse construction, financing, and monitoring.
During a meeting at Nehru Sahakar Bhawan, Cooperation Secretary and Registrar Dr. Samit Sharma highlighted that Rajasthan is the only state offering 100% subsidy support for warehouse construction, with Rs 25 lakh assistance per unit.
He said warehouses are being built through cooperative societies, significantly reducing construction costs to Rs 4,000–5,500 per metric ton.
The state has set a target of constructing 250 warehouses of 500 MT capacity, creating an additional 1.25 lakh MT storage capacity.
So far, 98 warehouses have been completed, while 91 are under construction, making Rajasthan’s cooperative storage model a benchmark for the country.
