Emphasising participatory governance in the mobility sector, Bharat Taxi has highlighted that representation of its “Sarathi” (driver-partners) community is institutional, structured and impactful, rather than symbolic.
Dhara Vallabh and Kishan Patni, both Sarathis themselves, serve as members of the Board of Directors of Bharat Taxi. Their presence ensures that key policy decisions are evaluated from the perspective of driver-partners before implementation. The governance framework mandates that feedback from Sarathis is formally channelled through elected representatives directly into the decision-making process.
According to the organisation, decisions related to fare structures, incentives, operational rules or any major policy changes require the consent and suggestions of Sarathi representatives as a compulsory and formal procedure — not merely advisory input. No policy is implemented without clear reasoning and dialogue with stakeholders.
The model underscores a collective decision-making approach, ensuring that Bharat Taxi functions not under the authority of a single individual or group but through the shared wisdom and participation of its Sarathi community.
