The Tamil Nadu Cooperative Department has announced that all Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACCS) in the state will supply seeds, chemical fertilisers and other agricultural inputs to farmers for cash at prices not exceeding the prescribed Maximum Retail Price (MRP).

PACCS already provide short-term crop loans to farmers to meet cultivation expenses, with seeds, chemical fertilisers and other inputs also supplied as part of the credit facility.

Farmers who are not currently members of cooperative societies can also become members and avail themselves of crop loans at low interest rates, along with the required agricultural inputs.

Under the latest arrangement, farmers can directly purchase seeds, chemical fertilisers and other inputs from cooperative societies by paying cash. Purchases will be facilitated based on the area under cultivation and relevant land documents.

The Cooperative Department has urged farmers across Tamil Nadu to make use of the facility and obtain quality seeds and fertilisers through cooperative societies.
