Thanjavur District Cauvery Farmers Protection Association has alleged that there is a widespread misappropriation of funds at the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Society at Devanachery in Kumbakonam zone in Tamil Nadu, reports a news outlet.
Farmers Association complained that they had been defrauded of lakhs of rupees by way of lending loans and distribution of crop insurance claims, which led to a huge loss to the credit society. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
Farmers Association has also urged the authorities not to allow an election to be held to choose office bearers of the society.
