Telangana: Collectors to manage DCCBs pending elections

In a move aimed at strengthening the cooperative banking sector, the Telangana government has handed over the management of all District Cooperative Central Banks to respective District Collectors and District Magistrates, appointing them as Persons-in-Charge committees.

The decision, based on a report by the Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, takes immediate effect and will remain valid for six months or until elections are held.

The government revoked an earlier order issued in August 2025 and invoked special powers under the Telangana Cooperative Societies Act, 1964, to facilitate reorganisation following district and mandal restructuring. Officials said the step would ensure greater transparency and efficiency, while follow-up action has been initiated.
