The Central Government has re-appointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for a further period of two years.
The reappointment will take effect from June 26, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to an official announcement.
Janakiraman, who joined the RBI as Deputy Governor in June 2023 after a distinguished career at State Bank of India, will continue to play a key role in the central bank’s regulatory and supervisory functions.
Prior to his RBI appointment, he served as Managing Director of SBI and held several important positions during his more than three-decade banking career.
