The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) launched several initiatives to strengthen cooperative enterprises, promote cooperative products and expand digital and cooperative education services in the State.
The programme was held at CAEPHT, Ghattay Dara, Ranipool, and witnessed the inauguration of SICUN Haat by Arun Upreti, Minister for RDD, Panchayati Raj and Cooperation. Upreti praised SICUN Chairman Dr Mangal Jit Rai and assured continued government support for strengthening the cooperative movement.
The event also marked the launch of a three-month Diploma in Cooperative Management, affiliated with Tribhuvan Sahkari University, Anand, Gujarat, under the Ministry of Cooperation. SICUN CONNECT, a quarterly e-newspaper, was also launched.
In addition, the SICUN Common Service Centre near RTO, Jalipool, was digitally inaugurated. A presentation on strategic marketing, branding, packaging and pricing highlighted ways to improve the competitiveness of cooperative products.
Rai said SICUN Haat would provide better market access while encouraging cooperatives to focus on branding, packaging, pricing and value creation.
