The Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN) has received the prestigious SKOCH Award for its Integrated Cooperative Development, Training & Livelihood Enhancement Programme, recognising its efforts to strengthen cooperatives and enhance livelihoods across Sikkim.
The award was received in New Delhi by Dr. Mangal Jit Rai, Chairman, SICUN, along with P. P. Sharma, Vice Chairman, on behalf of the SICUN family.
The recognition was presented by Prof. S. Mahendra Dey, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, and Sameer Kochhar, Chairman, SKOCH Group, during the 110th SKOCH Summit held at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
SICUN had earlier successfully completed the SKOCH evaluation process before being selected for the recognition.
Expressing gratitude to SKOCH, Dr. Rai dedicated the honour to Sikkim’s cooperative societies, members, employees and stakeholders. He said the recognition would further motivate SICUN to strengthen the cooperative movement, promote sustainable livelihoods and empower cooperative members across the state.
The award marks another milestone in SICUN’s efforts towards capacity building, livelihood enhancement, innovation and inclusive cooperative development in Sikkim.
