Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Cabinet’s approval of Rs 2000 crore grant to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) over the next four years.
He said the move aligns with the PM’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi”, as NCDC plays a key role in strengthening rural India. The funds, Rs 500 crore annually, will help cooperatives launch new projects, expand operations, and offer loans. Shah said the initiative would empower women, generate jobs for youth, and benefit millions of cooperative members.
Shah also highlighted the Cabinet’s approval of Rs 6,520 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, including Rs 1,920 crore in fresh funding. The scheme will set up 50 food irradiation units and 100 food testing labs, boosting food safety, processing, and farmer incomes.
He further welcomed the Cabinet’s nod to four multi-tracking railway projects spanning 574 km across 13 districts in six states. With a cost of Rs 11,169 crore, the projects aim to improve connectivity, bolster trade, and create fresh employment.
