SEWA completes 30 years; Bhatt reminisces

The founder of SEWA Ela Bhatt said the organisation was founded to help the working women who played a role in increasing the country’s wealth, reports Indian Express.

She was speaking at the function marking 30 years of the organization’s existence. There are 110 women’s collective enterprises in Gujarat, of which 65 are active.

Ella Bhatt said with the opening of the SEWA bank and the SEWA union, the women employed in the unorganized sector have changed into the stakeholders and recipients of social security.
