As part of the Ministry of Cooperation’s efforts to strengthen cooperative infrastructure and advance the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Bhutani chaired a virtual review meeting on June 2 to assess the progress of the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in the cooperative sector.

The meeting was attended by Deepak Agarwal, Managing Director of NAFED, and Anice Joseph Chandra, Managing Director of NCCF, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation and participating organizations.

Key discussions focused on district-wise storage capacity requirements, identification of eligible Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and other cooperative societies, progress on state-level hiring assurances, project-grounding strategies, loan sanction status, and timelines for construction of storage infrastructure.

Siddharth Jain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, and Dr. Samit Sharma, Principal Secretary and Registrar, Cooperative Department, Rajasthan, also participated in the review.

The initiative is a flagship cooperative-sector project aimed at creating a decentralized grain storage network across the country, enhancing agricultural infrastructure, reducing post-harvest losses, and improving income opportunities for farmers through cooperatives.
