Saraswat Bank has cautioned the public against cybercriminals impersonating officials of the Police, CBI, RBI, Enforcement Directorate and other government agencies to extort money through threats and intimidation.
The bank urged people to remain vigilant against digital arrest scams, in which fraudsters frighten victims with threats of arrest and pressure them into transferring money.
It emphasised that no legitimate authority asks individuals to transfer money to avoid arrest. People should verify suspicious claims and never make payments out of fear, panic or pressure.
The bank advised anyone suspecting cyber fraud to immediately call the national cybercrime helpline at 1930 or report the incident through the official portal, cybercrime.gov.in.
Saraswat Bank stressed that awareness, vigilance and timely reporting are essential to protecting individuals from financial fraud in the digital age.
