IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah joined Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in a large-scale tree plantation drive organised at the Sabarmati Ashram Gaushala (SAG) complex in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also participated in the campaign, which forms part of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s ambitious “Mission 5 Million Trees” initiative aimed at planting over 50 lakh saplings across the city.
The plantation drive was organised to promote environmental conservation, ecological restoration and greater public participation in expanding urban green cover. It also coincided with the nationwide “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, encouraging citizens to plant trees in honour of their mothers.
The campaign reflects the government’s emphasis on sustainable development alongside cooperative-led growth. Amit Shah has been actively spearheading plantation drives across Gujarat, including in Gandhinagar, with the objective of significantly increasing the region’s green cover.
The participation of cooperative leaders such as Sanghani and Dr. Meenesh Shah highlighted the cooperative sector’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community welfare.
