IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani addressed the Cooperative Conclave 2026 organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Surat, highlighting recent developments in the cooperative sector under the Union government.
Speaking at the event, Sanghani said that after 75 years of Independence, a separate Ministry of Cooperation was formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country. He noted that Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the new ministry.
Sanghani said that after taking charge, the ministry initiated several steps to expand the scope of cooperatives and enhance their role in the economy. As part of these efforts, the government has established three new national-level cooperative societies focusing on seeds, organic farming and exports.
He informed participants about the objectives and activities of these newly formed cooperatives and emphasised their potential to strengthen farmers and cooperative institutions across the country.
The conclave brought together representatives from the cooperative sector, industry bodies and other stakeholders to discuss opportunities for expanding the cooperative movement and promoting farmer-centric initiatives.
