Jetha Patel who became the Chairman of GCMMF (owner of famed brand Amul) after the ouster of Vipul Chaudhary is on the strong wicket also at home turf Sabar Dairy. His men have won elections hands down leading to a cake-walk for him to be its chairman once again.
Earlier Patel’s supporters swept the polls in the Himatnagar district milk union defeating his rival former Gujarat home minister Praful Patel. Interestingly, both Patels belong to the ruling party BJP.
The vote had become interesting especially because some of Jetha Patel’s detractors in the GCMMF’s board wanted him to lose and they had provided a clandestine support to the panel opposing him.
The Sabar Dairy board has 16 elected representatives. 15 candidates from Jetha Patel’s panel won have the polls while only one candidate from the panel opposing him. Thus the GCMMF chairman Jetha Patel is set to get elected as chairman of Sabar Dairy for a third term as well.
