Rupala wants co-op initiative on the lines of Zomato

Speaking on the occasion of the 70th All India Co-operative Week at the NCUI headquarters in Delhi, Union Minister Parshottam Rupala said that co-ops should think of coming up with an agency which caters to the needs of members on the lines of Zomato.

Rare co-op products such as Gir Cow milk or some desi ghee produced by members of co-op fraternity should get a market as is the case with other products in aggregators like Zomato. Zomato cannot fetch you everything and there is a gap which can be filled up by cooperative initiative; can we have some co-op marketing chain, asked Rupala.

Rupala also said that there should be areas where co-op should monopolize as is the case in dairy and fertilizer by Amul and IFFCO respectively. “Look for more such areas where co-op excels and controls the market. There should be 100% saturation of products through cooperatives, said Rupala.

Rupala stressed the power of the co-op model in making India Atma Nirbhar through the means of self-employment.
