A heated brawl broke out on Thursday, August 29, 2025, at the Anand Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office during nomination filing for the Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union board elections, commonly known as Amul Dairy, media reports say.
Tensions flared as Congress-backed candidate Ganpat Rathod, formerly of the BJP, arrived to file from the Balasinor block despite his roots in Kapadvanj. BJP and Congress supporters clashed, barricading entryways while a man waved cash, alleging bribery. Both factions blamed the other.
Police intervened to restore order. Nominations are being scrutinized Friday, with the final list due Saturday, and voting set for September 10.
