The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has extended financial assistance of Rs 3 crore to the Bhutti Weavers Handloom & Handicraft Cooperative Society Ltd. through its Regional Office in Shimla to strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s handloom sector.

The support is aimed at modernising the cooperative, enhancing production capacity and ensuring the sustainable development of the state’s rich handloom heritage.

According to NCDC, the funding will help improve the competitiveness of handloom enterprises by encouraging the adoption of modern technology and equipment. It is also expected to create new opportunities for skill development, generate employment for artisans and strengthen sustainable livelihoods in the region.

The initiative will further boost the local economy while promoting cooperative-led development in Himachal Pradesh. NCDC said the financial assistance reflects its continued commitment to empowering cooperative institutions and preserving traditional crafts through modernisation, capacity building and sustainable economic development.
