Rampant corruption in Bangladesh co-ops reported

Bangladesh media reports Martha D’Silva a 50 year old Catholic has been making efforts for the last 3 months to get back her hard-earned money from a cooperative in Chittagong in Bangladesh but to no avail

The Christian Cooperative Thrift and Credit Union owes Martha D’Silva 56,900 taka (US$670)

It is said financial mismanagement affects most of cooperatives in Bangladesh.

The cooperative was set up in 1956 to serve the Christian community living in Chittagong since 1518.

There are 1.7 million cooperatives with 10 million members in Bangladesh.
