PM to inaugurate World’s Largest Grain Storage on Feb 24

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the world’s largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector and the computerization of PACS scheme on February 24th, 2024, in New Delhi. This ground-breaking event marks a significant milestone in India’s agricultural infrastructure.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will also be present at the inauguration ceremony, along with dignitaries from across the country representing various national and state-level cooperatives.

The computerization of PACS/LAMPS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies/ Large-sized Agricultural Multipurpose Societies) is progressing rapidly, with hardware procured by 20 States/Union Territories. Currently, a trial run is underway in 6,117 PACS across 26 states/UTs, and 988 PACS have already gone live, showcasing the effectiveness of the initiative.

In tandem with this technological advancement, the implementation of the world’s largest food storage scheme is underway. A pilot project is currently being executed in 24 PACS across 24 States/Union Territories, with construction initiated in 13 of these states. Additionally, 1,779 PACS have been identified in 27 states/UTs for participation in the second phase of the pilot project.

The initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to modernizing India’s agricultural sector and ensuring food security for its citizens.
