The 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme has transferred over Rs 18,690 crore directly to the bank accounts of 9.34 crore farmers, further strengthening the government’s income support programme for agricultural households.
Under the scheme, eligible farmer families receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments to support agricultural investments and household financial needs. With the latest disbursement, cumulative transfers under PM-KISAN have crossed Rs 4.64 lakh crore since its launch.
The scheme relies on Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), e-KYC and digital verification to enhance transparency, minimise intermediaries and ensure that financial assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries.
The continuation of PM-KISAN until 2030-31, backed by a financial outlay of Rs 3.15 lakh crore, underscores the government’s commitment to providing sustained income support to farmers.
The initiative aims to strengthen farmers’ financial security, improve their capacity to meet agricultural expenses and contribute to the broader goal of improving rural livelihoods through timely and transparent delivery of benefits.
