PM calls for balanced use of fertilizers at Pongal Event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a Pongal celebration held in Delhi, emphasised the urgent responsibility of protecting natural resources for future generations. He said that maintaining soil health, conserving water, and ensuring the balanced use of resources are among the most important duties of the present time.

The Prime Minister underlined that sustainable agricultural practices are essential to secure long-term food security and farmers’ prosperity. Highlighting the importance of the balanced use of fertilisers, including urea, he noted that excessive or imbalanced application can harm soil fertility, reduce crop productivity, and impact the environment.

He called upon farmers, policymakers, and agricultural institutions to adopt scientific and need-based fertiliser use, supported by awareness and innovation. The remarks reinforced the government’s focus on sustainable farming, resource efficiency, and environmentally responsible agriculture for the benefit of future generations.
