Patil heads Committee to study Banking amendments

Free Press Journal says Maharashtra Government has set up a committee headed by Cooperation Minister Balasaheb Patil to look at the amendments made last year by the Centre to the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 regarding the functioning of the cooperative banks in the state.

The government has taken the step following the NCP’s allegation that the Centre was determined to destroy the cooperative banking sector.

The committee includes several cabinet and state ministers and some prominent cooperators. Anil Kawade, Commissioner of Cooperation and Registrar is the member secretary of the committee.
