Panipat Co-op sugar mills in trouble

The National Green Tribunal recently asked Haryana state pollution control board to recover a penalty of Rs 4.13 crore from Panipat Co-operative sugar mills for causing air and water pollution, reports PTI.

The tribunal had earlier said there were serious violations of environmental norms in the functioning of Panipat Co Operative Sugar and distillery units in Haryana.

According to the tribunal, these are violations of the Water Act, the Air Act and the Environment Protection Act which are criminal offences.
