Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are set to gain new commercial opportunities with the government providing existing bulk and wholesale petrol and diesel outlets a one-time option to convert into full-fledged retail outlets.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the business potential of PACS while improving access to fuel in rural areas. According to the latest update, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have already commissioned 62 converted outlets, while 115 wholesale PACS across five states have given their consent for conversion.
The move will enable participating PACS to expand their business activities beyond traditional credit operations, generate additional income and strengthen their financial sustainability. It also aims to improve rural energy supply and advance grassroots development under the government’s ‘Sahkar Se Samriddhi’ vision.
