Vigilance officials in Deogarh on Friday arrested Suresh Chandra Sahu, secretary of the Kadopada Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society, for allegedly embezzling Rs 40.71 lakh.
Investigators found that he manipulated PACS records, particularly the day book used for daily financial entries, to divert farmers’ loan repayment amounts. Though he collected the repayments, he allegedly avoided recording them, leaving the funds unaccounted and enabling misappropriation.
Following a detailed inquiry, a case was filed at the Rourkela Vigilance police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Sahu was produced before the special Vigilance court in Sambalpur after his arrest.
