PACS members interact with MoS ahead of R Day

Around 100 representatives of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) from various States and Union Territories interacted with Union Minister of State for Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, in New Delhi on the eve of the 77th Republic Day.

The PACS representatives have been invited as special guests to the Republic Day celebrations, reflecting national recognition of their contribution to grassroots development, rural credit delivery, and community empowerment.

The interaction programme was organised by the Ministry of Cooperation and was attended by Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, along with other senior officials of the Ministry. The participation of PACS representatives from across the country highlighted the diversity, reach, and growing importance of the cooperative movement in India.

A dialogue session held during the programme witnessed detailed and constructive discussions on key issues related to the cooperative sector. Major focus areas included strengthening of PACS, expansion and smooth functioning of Multi-State Cooperative Societies, development of the dairy sector, implementation of the world’s largest cooperative-based grain storage initiative, and progress towards the establishment of two lakh new Multipurpose PACS (MPACS).

Addressing the gathering, Murlidhar Mohol said that PACS are evolving into vital institutional hubs for financial inclusion, rural development, and community welfare. He added that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the cooperative sector is witnessing unprecedented momentum, moving steadily towards the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi.”
