The Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has launched the distribution of micro-ATMs to milk cooperative societies to improve financial inclusion and banking access for dairy farmers. So far, 55 societies, 35 in Cuttack and 20 in Sambalpur districts, have received the devices with support from the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, media reports say.
OMFED Managing Director Vijay Amruta Kulange said the initiative will enable farmers to withdraw milk payment dues and carry out other banking transactions directly at their cooperative societies, eliminating the need to travel long distances.
The move is expected to provide secure, transparent and convenient banking services, particularly benefiting dairy farmers during the monsoon and strengthening the cooperative dairy ecosystem in Odisha.
