The National Urban Cooperative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to strengthen cybersecurity and digital forensics capabilities across Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs).

The MoU was exchanged during the ‘Sahkar Nav-Kranti’ programme in Mumbai, where Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said banks and their customers cannot remain fully secure in the era of online banking without the support of forensic science.

Shah said NFSU has developed world-class expertise in cybersecurity and digital forensics and provides professional services to several banks. The partnership will enable even the smallest UCBs to access cybersecurity and digital forensic facilities at a low cost.

Under the arrangement, cybersecurity, digital forensics, employee training and research facilities will be integrated through NUCFDC’s ‘Bank in a Box’ platform.

Shah also highlighted the newly launched Security Operations Centre, which will provide UCBs with round-the-clock cyber monitoring, immediate guidance and security support. He urged all UCBs to become members to strengthen protection against digital threats.
