No proposal to set up Co-op University in Satana, MP

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that there is no proposal under consideration to set up a cooperative university or its campus in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the Satna district, following the establishment of Tribhuvan Sahkari University in Gujarat.

He further clarified that no such proposal has been received by the Ministry of Cooperation in this regard.

Providing additional details, Shah said that as per the National Cooperative Database (NCD), there are more than 8 lakh cooperative societies across the country, comprising approximately 30 crore members.

Of these, Madhya Pradesh accounts for 54,025 cooperative societies with about 95 lakh members. Specifically, Satna district has 1,551 cooperative societies with approximately 1.80 lakh members.

Since its inception on 6th July 2021, the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken several initiatives to realize the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi” and to strengthen and deepen the cooperative movement from primary to apex-level cooperatives across the country.
