No Driver Account to be blocked without hearing

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that Bharat Taxi has been designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and dignity for drivers, with a clear assurance that no driver’s account will be blocked without being heard.

Addressing Sahakar Sarathi drivers at the launch of the cooperative-based platform, Shah said he had interacted with drivers in cities such as Ahmedabad and Delhi, who raised concerns about arbitrary account suspensions and lack of grievance redressal under existing aggregator models. He said livelihoods were often affected without any opportunity for drivers to present their side.

Highlighting the cooperative framework of Bharat Taxi, Shah said the initiative will follow a transparent and accountable system, where grievances will be addressed through a proper hearing mechanism. He said the platform is designed to protect drivers from exploitation while ensuring mutual accountability.

Shah added that drivers also have a responsibility to maintain courteous behaviour with passengers. He described Bharat Taxi as a driver-first initiative that balances rights, responsibility, and economic security through cooperation.
