No comment, says Patel on Court summon to RaGa

A cautious man and a wise cooperator Ajay Patel, Chairman of Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank said “no comment” when Indian Cooperative contacted to take his reaction on the court summons to Congress leader in the case of criminal defamation case filed by the co-op bank.

It bears recall that the metropolitan Court issued summons to Rahul Gandhi and Randeep Surjewala and also felt that after examining the documents it appears there is a prima facea case of defamation.

“You can talk to our CEO to take comment on the issue but so far as I am concerned I would like to maintain silence”, said Patel whose closeness with BJP President Amit Shah, perhaps makes him make his move carefully.

Ajay Patel who had bagged Kribhco’s Sahkarita Shiromani award in the past however admitted that he reads Indian Cooperative regularly. The court has fixed May 27 when it asked Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Spokesman Randeep Surjewala has to be present in the court. The two leaders had alleged that the co-op bank was involved in dubious transactions in the wake of demonetization.

Patel and the Bank filed two criminal defamation cases against the Congress leaders arguing that due to their defamatory statement, the bank’s business may suffer as depositors may get doubts in their minds.
