In a boost to grassroots fisheries development, the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) awarded a certificate and a one-time grant of Rs 3 lakh to the Fisheries Cooperative Society, Kotarmoor, in Nizamabad district of Telangana.
The recognition was conferred under the “New Fisheries Cooperatives formed FY 2024–25” category as part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana.
The award was presented by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh in the presence of Dr. B. K. Behera, Chief Executive of NFDB, and Sagar Mehra.
The recognition highlights the growing role of cooperative institutions in strengthening inland fisheries and enhancing livelihoods at the village level.
The grant is expected to support infrastructure development and capacity building, further empowering the cooperative and contributing to the overall growth of the fisheries sector in Telangana.
