The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) recently organised an International Training Programme on Dairy Development through the Cooperative Business Model for 27 participants from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, aiming to strengthen cooperative-led dairy development across SAARC countries.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Centre for International Cooperation and Training in Agricultural Banking (CICTAB), an autonomous institution of VAMNICOM, Pune.

Participants were introduced to the structure, functioning and success of India’s dairy cooperative movement and its role in transforming the rural economy.

As part of the programme, delegates visited NDDB subsidiaries, IRMA, Vidya Dairy, Amul’s milk processing plant and Tribhuvandas Food Complex, besides witnessing NDDB-supported cooperative initiatives at Mujkuva village, including the Solar Pump Irrigators’ Cooperative Enterprise (SPICE) and women-led fertilizer and dairy cooperatives.

The training covered dairy cooperative governance, international dairy trends, animal healthcare, IT applications, feed and fodder management, dairy engineering, quality assurance and training methodologies.
