NCUI upbeat as PM lauds Looms of Ladakh co-op

NCUI is rejoicing as in his latest Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi admired the Looms of Ladakh and praised the cooperative for playing the most important role in launching Ladakh Pashmina into the international market.

The prime minister explained how the cooperative and collective efforts put in, in the preparation of Ladakh Pashmina, with 450 individuals contributing to its production across 15 villages. He praised the ‘Looms of Ladakh’ cooperative for not only raising the quality of Ladakh Pashmina but also greatly boosting its global visibility.

NCUI tweeted “In accordance with NCUI’s missionary objective to support and train coops of all types, 40 members of Looms of Ladakh were benefited through the LDP programme of NCCE held in June 2023. In September 2023, NCUI President Dileep_Sanghani and Dy CE Savitri Singh addressed the 6th Annual General Meeting of Looms of Ladakh in Leh & provided guidance & encouragement to the members of this coop.”

“NCUI continues to provide leadership mentoring to this co-op so that it can carve it’s own niche in the competitive economy. Looms of Ladakh has successfully mobilized 400 members in 16 villages of two districts of Leh & Kargil’, reads the tweet.

“True to its democratic character, the cooperative till date has organized six Annual General Body meetings & conducted three elections to its management positions. This cooperative has a bright future ahead”, says NCUI.
