NCUI organized Debate & Extempore Speech Contest

While celebrating the 69th All India Cooperative Week (14-20 Nov), NCUI the apex body of cooperatives in the country organized a contest ? a 2-in-1 rolled in Debate & Extempore Speech Contest on 16th November, 2022.

The Contest received a good response from Delhi-based national federations of 9 teams including the host NCUI with 2 participants for each team ? IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NCCF, NCDC, NFCSF, FISHCOFED, WDRA and NCUI, informs a press release issued by NCUI.

The Contest was divided in 2 parts ? first part related to Debate and the second part was allotted to Extempore Speech. The Debate topic was: “Is Cooperative Model the Best Model for Entrepreneurship Development?” Each team was allotted 5 minutes to speak ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion, with a follow-up second round of 2 minutes per team to counter argue, with allotted bonus points.

The second part of the Contest was Extempore Speech, for which each team participant was allotted 3 minutes. A box with topics related to general issues, and not just cooperative arena, were jotted on folded paper pieces and circulated to the teams to pick one at random.

LD Ahuja, Former Secretary, NCCT, who was the Judge on thIS occasion, encouraged good representation of each participating team, hence both representatives in every team took turns in the competition, one represented as debater and the other as extempore speaker. The participants spoke in either English or Hindi.

The contest winners were decided based on cumulative scores of both Debate & Extempore Speech rounds. Team NCUI won the first prize, team KRIBHCO won the second prize, third prize was given to the NAFED team, and the team NCDC won the consolation prize. On this occasion, all the team participants were presented with a certificate of participation.
