NCF holds AGM; Badal & Malla welcome Minister

National Cooperative Federation of Nepal (NCF) organized its 27th Annual General Assembly in Lalitpur, Nepal last week in the presence of Minister for Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Aryal.

Addressing the meeting, Aryal said cooperatives should launch several programs related to entrepreneurship for the benefit of unemployed women and youth. NCF should hold discussions on bringing economic prosperity”, she said.

She also expressed concern over the haphazard construction of roads and structures in the hills that were resulting in environmental degradation. The Ministry will have a role in drafting cooperative friendly laws, she said.

Aryal further added that cooperative should create the jobs for unemployed youths and women. Praising the efforts of co-ops, she said co-op has played an important role in poverty alleviation.

The Minister said ”we are planning to merge together cooperatives that are in poor financial conditions.” She also urged cooperatives to implement the Sustainable development goals.

President of National Cooperative Federation of Nepal Keshav Prasad Badal presented the financial report before the delegates present on the occasion. Badal said cooperatives main objective is to fulfil the needs of members associated with respective co-ops.

All the top co-operators of Nepal including Mrs Om Devi Malla, ICA Global Board Member, National Cooperative Development Board (NCDB) Daksha Paudel and others were present on the occasion.
