The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Mizoram under the Bana Kaih (Handholding) Scheme on Monday, marking a major push towards cooperative-led development in the state.

The signing ceremony was chaired by K. C. Lalmalsawmzauva, Vice Chairman of the State Policy Coordination Committee-cum-Adviser to the Chief Minister, in the presence of Udit Prakash Rai.

The Bana Kaih Scheme, a flagship initiative of the state government, aims to promote self-reliance and inclusive economic growth, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Under the agreement, collateral-free and interest-free loans will be extended to eligible cooperatives, designated as “Progress Partners,” through NCDC’s schemes.

The MoA was signed by Robert H. Touthang on behalf of NCDC and Lalmalsawma Pachuau representing the state government, paving the way for stronger cooperative empowerment in Mizoram.
