A five-day training programme on “Orientation on Deep Sea Fishing Practices,” jointly organised by the National Cooperative Development Corporation and ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, commenced at the ICAR-CIFT campus with the objective of enhancing skills and promoting sustainable fishing practices among coastal communities.
The programme has brought together fishers from Gujarat and Puducherry, including active participation of women fishers, reflecting the growing emphasis on inclusive development in the fisheries sector.
The training focuses on modern deep-sea fishing techniques, safety measures, sustainable harvesting practices, post-harvest management, and the use of advanced technologies in marine fisheries.
The initiative highlights the continued efforts of both organisations to support India’s fisheries sector through training, technology transfer, and cooperative-led development initiatives.
