In a major push to strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Uttarakhand, a state-level workshop on FPO promotion, business growth and credit linkage was organized in Dehradun by Uttarakhand Horticulture Cooperative Federation Ltd. (Hortifed) in collaboration with the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).

The workshop brought together CEOs and accountants of FPOs from across the state to discuss business expansion, value addition, processing, marketing and access to finance. Officials emphasized the need for FPOs to move beyond production and adopt a more market-oriented approach to enhance farmers’ incomes.

A key focus of the programme was credit linkage and the Credit Guarantee Fund (CGF), with participants receiving detailed guidance on funding opportunities for business expansion.

The highlight of the event was the success story of Siddhbaba FPO, which achieved an annual turnover of over Rs 50 lakh within just two years. Officials described it as a model for other FPOs and urged participants to replicate its growth-oriented approach.
