Reinforcing its commitment to farmer welfare and transparent market systems, the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India Ltd (NCCF) has operationalised a Model Procurement Centre in Menedhal in Karnataka, aimed at ensuring assured and transparent procurement for local farmers.
The centre is designed to bridge the gap between farms and fair markets by providing structured procurement mechanisms, timely payments and fair price discovery. By eliminating intermediaries and strengthening direct procurement, the initiative seeks to protect farmers from distress sales and market volatility.
Officials said the Model Procurement Centre functions with clear grading standards, digital record-keeping and streamlined logistics, ensuring that farmers receive due value for their produce. The move is expected to enhance trust in cooperative-led procurement systems while improving rural income stability.
