NCCE trains students of Gujarat Vidyapeeth

A training programme on Cooperation and Cooperative Management for the students of CSRM (Gujarat Vidyapeeth) was held last month at NCCE premises. The objective of the programme was to sensitise the students of Gujarat Vidyapeeth to the basic tenets of cooperation, principles, values, achievements, etc. Around 40 participants of Gujarat Vidyapeeth attended the programme.

Inaugurating the programme N. Satya Narayana, Chief Executive, NCUI emphasized the importance of the cooperative sector in the economic development of our country, and its relevance for youth participation.

Dr. Lokesh Jain, Professor and Programme Coordinator, Gujarat Vidyapeeth speaking on the occasion said cooperatives are part and parcel of Gandhian ideology, so the relevance of cooperatives for socio-economic development of our country is immense. Dr V.K. Dubey, Director, NCCE emphasized the importance of implementation of key learning points of the programme.

The participants went for a field visit to NCDC for interaction with senior officials. During the interaction, NCDC officials apprised the participants of the Union’ govt.’s financing schemes for the working of cooperatives and their importance for the effective functioning of cooperatives. The students showed keen interest in knowing the funding possibilities for cooperative ventures.

Various sessions were held on the topics related to cooperative concept/principles, values, youth and cooperatives, cooperative success stories, role of IFFCO in agriculture development, etc. The participants desired more such programmes in the future so that cooperative is given due recognition in the mainstream education system of the country.
