Nandini elected V President of Asia’s oldest Cultural Sabha

Cooperative leader from South India Dr.Nandini Azad, President of Indian Cooperative Network for Women was elected Vice President of the Parthasarathy Gana Sabha, Asia’s Oldest Cultural Sabha.

The Sabha which is 119 years old recently organized the Bharat Sangeet Utsav 2019 in support of Education for Underprivileged Girl Children at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai with Padma Bhushan Winners, exceptional artists from all over India. Nandini was the Guest of Honour, informs a press release from ICNW.

On the occasion Nandini spoke about the Working Women’s Forum (India), Indian Co-operative Network for Women and how they led poor women members in 3 states of South India and have has unionized vendors, hawkers, and other service specialists.

“Working class women were provided a platform to voice their needs. Today it has become a social movement of 6, 00,000 members in women’s cooperatives in three southern states of India spread over 6500 villages & slums”, Dr Azad said.

“The WWF/ICNW cooperatives support as CSR activities, girls’ homes for destitute and orphan girls in Tambaram, Dindigul. In ICNW cooperatives, loaning is often based on educating, investing on girl child; and anti-dowry, anti-child marriage affirmative action and campaign with their loanees”, said Dr Azad.
